Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced at a Ministerial Sectoral briefing in Abuja that the Federal Government has secured a significant commitment of $12 million from the United States.
This funding is intended to enhance transparency in public finance management and support civil society efforts to promote government transparency.
Tuggar also disclosed that the US has agreed to repatriate stolen Nigerian funds, which will be reinvested in Nigeria’s public sector through the African Development Bank (AFDB).

Under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, several accomplishments have been highlighted within its first year:
- Establishment of a Joint Business Council with Qatar to promote trade partnerships, investment opportunities, and economic growth.
- Secured a €250 million investment from the Netherlands.
- Secured $14 billion in investment commitments from Indian investors across various sectors.

Additionally, Tuggar mentioned the engagement of over 300 stakeholders within and outside Nigeria to create opportunities for the country’s youth. Notably, an MOU with India’s Lab Four to provide 50,000 full-time business process outsourcing (BPO) jobs to Nigerians over the next three years has been established.
The administration also signed agreements with Qatar and the US to employ Nigerian workers and under the bilateral extradition treaty, respectively.
In addition, the administration has implemented the National Diaspora Policy and has registered over 10,890 Nigerians in the diaspora database. The administration has engaged with more than 300 diaspora professionals and has facilitated the repatriation of Nigerians detained in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the digitalization of consular services to improve service delivery, with a pilot launched at Nigeria’s High Commission in London.
On the democracy and regional stability front, Tuggar stated that Nigeria is playing a leadership role within ECOWAS to promote peace and security in the region. The administration remains committed to upholding democratic principles and ensuring the welfare of its citizens across Africa.
This holistic approach to governance and international relations underscores the administration’s dedication to democracy, regional stability, and the prosperity of Nigeria.
