Farhad Moshiri has said the club are very close to appointing a permanent successor to Ronald Koeman.
Moshiri said: “The first priority is to stabilise the club and finalise the appointment of a manager. We are close.”
Everton, who parted ways with Ronald Koeman last month, are currently under the charge of under-23s manager David Unsworth.
However, they have continued to struggle despite a summer of heavy investment and were thrashed 5-1 at home by Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday.
Unsworth has said he does not need a timeframe to be put on his stint as caretaker manager after Everton were heavily linked with a move for Watford boss Marco Silva.
