Former Liverpool midfielder James Milner has paid an emotional tribute to the late Diogo Jota. He recently revealed that it was a special moment to make his return to Anfield while wearing his former team-mate’s number 20.
According to him, despite the disappointing result for Brighton, he appreciates the warm ovation he received from LFC fans after his substitution.
Milner concluded by sending a heartfelt message to both the late Portugal international and the Liverpool supporters.
His words, “Disappointing result but happy to be back out on the pitch and a special moment to play at Anfield wearing the #20. A massive thank you for the incredible welcome from the Anfield crowd YNWA.
Also to the travelling fans for you [sic] continued support, we need you with us over this period.”

Left with an empty ground, Houlding founded Liverpool in 1892 and the club has played at Anfield ever since. The capacity of the stadium at the time was 20,000, although only 100 spectators attended Liverpool’s first match at Anfield.
