Senator Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised a plan to expand the APC’s membership.
On Wednesday, after a private meeting with Simon Lalong, the former governor of Plateau State, Ganduje made the announcement.
He further clarified that the purported defection of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to the ruling party was not the reason for Wike’s visit to his Abuja home on Monday.

The chairman did concede that the ruling party would benefit from having a leader like Wike switch to it in 2027.
He claims that this will boost the party’s chances, especially in 2027.
During their conversation, Ganduje said, “You know Wike is an honourable minister-designate, so he came, we discussed because I was looking for him to congratulate him for that and also he came to congratulate me and we discussed that when he becomes minister fully, he will work very hard in order to move the ministry he is given and he is ready to cooperate.”
But we didn’t talk about the possibility of him joining the APC. That difficulty lies in the future.
Furthermore, we are releasing a new plan to expand the party’s base of support across all levels of government, including APC and non-APC officials.
Some political groups will even join with the APC, I promise you of that. We are carrying it out below earth.
Lalong had earlier stated that he was to the party secretariat to offer his congratulations to Ganduje and discuss ways in which he might assist Ganduje in leading the party.
He explained that before becoming national chairman, Ganduje served as governor, and that this made him the most seasoned politician in the party. He spent so much time in public service that he eventually became governor after serving as permanent secretary, commissioner, and deputy governor for the longest amount of time. What else do you need to know about party planning with this kind of experience?”
