RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande has revealed that he rejected Chelsea earlier in his career. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he decided against heading to Stamford Bridge because he wanted to increase his sporting value and improve his football at a smaller club.
He added that while the people cared about the money that would have come from the Blues, he made the right decision to turn down the offer.
His words, “It was a difficult time. I felt like for many people, it was all about money. A lot of people told me I absolutely had to play for Chelsea. Then I stopped everything and made a decision for myself.
I knew the president of Leganes; he had helped with my move to the USA. Suddenly, I was faced with a choice: Leganes or Chelsea? It was risky, but luckily, it was the right decision.
I think patience is very important in football. It’s not always just about money. If you play well, it will come naturally. I’m young; I need to play to increase my sporting value, to improve. And I wouldn’t get that on the bench.”

The UK government approved the £4.25bn takeover, ending Abramovich’s 19-year ownership of the club. Bruce Buck, who served as chairman since 2003, was replaced by Boehly, while long-serving club director and de facto sporting director Marina Granovskaia left, as did Petr Čech from the role of technical and performance advisor.
