The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is too focused on his mandate to concern himself with “politicians of your nature,” his media aide, Lere Olayinka, has said.
Olayinka made the statement on Friday while responding to allegations by the Action Peoples Party (APP) and the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), which claimed that Wike and security agencies were plotting to arrest Hon. Ugochinyere Michael Ikeagwuonu, a lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency.
Reacting to the allegations, Olayinka dismissed CUPP as an “unknown and illegal entity” and criticized its continued existence.

He said the coalition was established solely to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 presidential election and had since lost its relevance.
“After the 2019 presidential election, CUPP and its purpose ended,” Olayinka said. “But as usual, Ugochinyere kept using it to manipulate his way to the House of Representatives, where he is now the spokesperson of a non-existent group.”
Olayinka also accused Ugochinyere of exploiting his political affiliations for personal gain. “Apart from the non-existing CUPP, Ugochinyere is also using his real political party, the APP, for other things I can’t mention here.
He is swimming in the rivers of betrayal, and one never can tell who he has played his usual game with.”
He advised Ugochinyere to reflect on his relationships and resolve any issues with those who might feel aggrieved by him.
“As for Wike, he is too busy with the business of developing the FCT as mandated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He has no time to give attention to attention-seeking individuals,” Olayinka added.
The CUPP and APP had earlier accused Wike of plotting against Ugochinyere, citing a campaign of intimidation.
However, Wike’s spokesperson dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
