Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on all tiers of government to prioritize policies that promote decent working conditions, fair wages, and professional development opportunities for Nigerian workers.
Alli made the call in a statement issued on Thursday to commemorate the 2024 Workers’ Day celebration.
The statement, signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, was made available to the media in Ibadan.
The lawmaker praised Nigerian workers for their resilience, commitment, and unwavering contributions to national development despite persistent economic challenges.
He described workers as the backbone of the state’s and nation’s progress, acknowledging their vital role in sustaining critical sectors of the economy.
“I acknowledge the invaluable roles workers play in driving growth and sustaining critical sectors, despite numerous economic challenges,” he stated. “This celebration is a reminder of the need to continually improve the welfare, safety, and rights of workers.”
Senator Alli emphasized that implementing policies aimed at ensuring decent work conditions would not only uplift the workforce but also contribute to national growth.
