In view of the selection of the next World Trade Organization, consultations have kicked start today and come an end on the 27th of October 2020. According to the WTO who made it known on their page, only two candidates remain for members consideration.

Recall that the nomination for the position of new Director-General of the World Trade Organization started on the 8th of June 2020 at the end of which 8 candidates were nominated by their respective governments.
The candidates met with WTO at the special general council meeting, during which they presented their views and entertained questions from the membership.
On the 7th to 16th September members preferences were assessed to determine the which candidate is placed to consensus report. At the delegation meeting held on 18th September 2020, 5 candidates out of the 8 who had secured the broadest support from WTO membership and first round of consultations were disclosed.
However in the second round of consultations which took place from 24th September to October 6 WTO disclosed 2 candidatesout of the remaining 5 as legible for the third and final round of consultations.
The 2 candidates for the third round of consultation are Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Yoo Myung-hee. The third round of consultation is therefore scheduled to from October 19 – October 27.
