Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has come out to say that Xavi will be allowed to see out the rest of the season due to his legendary status at the club. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, Xavi will not be chased out of the club because he is a Barcelona legend, and he deserves the club’s respect for being a man who acts with complete dignity.

Laporta added that the club and Xavi himself must now give everything to try to win the UCL this season.
His words, “Xavi informed me that he would leave at the end of the season. He wanted to finish the season and it’s a formula that I accept because it was Xavi who proposed it to me. And he is a Barca legend. He is an honest person; he acts with complete dignity; and he is a person who loves Barca.
We have to give everything we have to try to win the Champions League. We are in the next round against Napoli, and we are going step by step, and I think that, with commitment, with more character, without losing concentration, with the coach giving everything that I know he will, and with the players fully committed, we will be able to achieve some of the goals we have set for ourselves at the end of the season. We had the second-best attendance yesterday, but it’s not just about the attendance, it’s about the fans, cheering at all times, when the team are going through the most difficult times.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona, commonly referred to as Barcelona and colloquially known as Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona.
There is often a fierce rivalry between the two strongest teams in a national league, and this is particularly the case in La Liga, where the game between Barcelona and Real Madrid is known as “The Classic” (El Clásico).
From the start of national competitions the clubs were seen as representatives of two rival regions in Spain: Catalonia and Castile, as well as of the two cities. The rivalry reflects what many regard as the political and cultural tensions felt between Catalans and the Castilians, seen by one author as a re-enactment of the Spanish Civil War. Over the years, the head-to-head record between the two clubs is 102 victories for Madrid, 100 victories for Barcelona, and 52 draws.
