Sharafadeen Alli, the senator representing Oyo South in the National Assembly, has said that Joseph Tegbe’s challenge to his election is without merit.
According to Infostride News, Alli ran for office under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In contrast, Tegbe ran on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket and won.

However, Tegbe had appealed the tribunal’s decision to uphold the APC candidate’s victory.
In his appeal, Tegbe asked that voting in 45 precincts be nullified and redone.
While Tegbe has filed a petition against Alli with the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Ibadan, the state capital, Alli has requested the tribunal to reject Tegbe’s claim.
Alli presented this argument in a final written address he and his political party, the APC, drafted together and submitted to the tribunal on Thursday.
In the joint address, Alli argued that the petitioner had not proven that he did not receive a plurality of the vote.
He said that what Tegbe did was just an intellectual exercise.
We won’t waste time and effort trying to refute a petition that hasn’t been proven false.
After being cross-examined by the respondents, the petitioners’ witness obviously failed to meet the standard anticipated to support the reliefs requested in this appeal.
The respondent has gathered enough evidence to effectively kill the petitioner’s case, which was already doomed legally.
Therefore, we beg your Lordships to ignore the petitioners’ argument and throw out their expensive request.
