Elections for YOWICAN’s Adamawa State chapter’s executive positions were called off by the organization’s national secretariat.
Despite the controversy surrounding the election’s handling on Friday, two factions within the wing spoke to the media on Saturday, claiming that the event’s organizers had not followed protocol.
The YOWICAN headquarters in Abuja responded on Saturday night by declaring the election null and void in a memo acquired by the media.

Belusochukwu Enwere, CAN’s national chairman, sent a memo to CAN’s Adamawa State chairman, Rev. Dami Mamza, declaring the election null and void because it was held without his approval.
“I am writing to advise you that the YOWICAN election held in Adamawa State on August 25, 2023, has been declared null and void. This comes after the national chairman unexpectedly called off an election scheduled for August 25th, 2023.
“As a result of this, the Secretary (of YOWICAN, who oversaw the election) breached YOWICAN Bye-law article 8:11 vi in carrying out YOWICAN’s activities and programmes for the said election.”
Concern over the recently elected YOWICAN state leadership in Adamawa State led to their open rejection by CSN and the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC).
