About 10,000 members of the Labour Party (LP) in Kaduna State have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling a major shift in the state’s political landscape.
Welcoming the new members in Kaduna on Saturday, ADC State Chairman Alhaji Tijjani Mustapha expressed excitement over their decision to join the party.
“To our 10,000 decampees from the Labour Party, we welcome you with open arms to the ADC family.

Your decision to join us is a testament to our shared vision for a better Kaduna State and Nigeria, and we are excited to have you on board,” Mustapha said.
He described the mass defection as a significant milestone in the party’s efforts to drive democratic change in Kaduna and beyond.
During the event, the ADC also unveiled Alexander Adanu as its candidate for the 2025 by-election for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alexander Igoji Adamu expressed gratitude to the ADC for its inclusive approach, describing it as a party committed to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
“Our decision to join the ADC is a reflection of our shared desire for a better Nigeria, where transparency, accountability, and good governance reign supreme,” Adamu stated.
He further thanked the ADC for adopting him as its candidate and pledged to work towards a Nigeria that ensures access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for all citizens.
