A 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 57-year-old biological father, Salisu Abubakar, in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Monday night at Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District.
A resident told the media that the family woke up to find the deceased covered in blood with multiple machete cuts all over his body.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the attack was reported to the police at about 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025.
“Information at the Command’s disposal revealed that one Muhammad Salisu, 20, of Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, attacked his biological father, Salisu Abubakar, with a machete,” the statement said.
“As a result of the attack, the victim sustained deep cuts on his shoulder, neck, and chest.
The Divisional Police Officer of Sara led a patrol team to the scene, and the victim was evacuated to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Birnin Kudu, where he was confirmed dead.”
SP Shiisu added that the suspect has been arrested and the weapon recovered.
Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.
The suspect is expected to be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
