Coordinator of National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, gave the confirmation while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the current security situation in the country.
Omeri said the deployment of the troops was contrary to rumours that there was no presence of the military in the affected states.
He maintained that normalcy had returned to Mubi and other cities claimed to have been taken over by the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
“We just have one issue today about reinforcement of military troop as part of the effort to check and caution Boko Haram sect challenge in the country.
“Contrary to media reports, striking of some towns in Adamawa State, such as Mubi, the military have confirmed the new redeployment of more than 500 troops to support the expectation around those areas, including Gulak, Michika among others. We believe with this commitment and effort, the situation will be brought under control.
“Meanwhile the situation report indicates that Mubi town is calm, while troops, including the police and other services, are on patrol there,” Omeri said.
