Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl skipped the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night amid claims organizers booked his band to perform and then kicked them off the bill.
The singer was due to attend the 2015 edition of the event to compete for two prizes for the group’s documentary series Sonic Highways, and he was tipped for success after winning two Creative Arts Emmys for the show a week earlier.
However, Grohl did not appear at the event, and he has now explained he did not attend the show because his performance was canceled.
He informs TMZ as follows:
“You know what, we were supposed to play on the Emmys, and we were gonna play on the Emmys and then they kicked us off… I can’t tell you (why), do your research but they did… We won two Emmys last (time) so we’ve got two of them.”
Dave Grohl and his bandmates lost out on the two awards they were nominated for – Informational Series Or Special, which went to Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, and Outstanding Directing For Nonfiction Programming, which was won by Alex Gibney for Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief.
