It barely 3 days to the 2015 edition of Nigeria’s most prestigious music awards, the Headies.
As the countdown gets in top gear, excitement is in the air over the Rookie of the Year category which seeks to celebrate an outstanding fast rising music act.
The lucky winner is chosen via popular votes and gets rewarded with the opportunity to perform on the big stage of The Headies.
This year’s nominees list has talented rapper, Base One slugging it out with Choc City’s Koker, Humblesmith, Pepenazi, Ycee and Naija Ninja’s Young GreyC.
The category is a tough one to call as all the nominees had an impressive period in the year under review. Ycee’s ‘Jagaban’ remains a fan favourite which prompted Olamide to also jump on the remix, while Humblesmith has made numerous fans groove with his delivery on ‘Osinachi’ featuring indigenous rapper, Phyno.
Young GreyC, asides performing at major gigs this year, also saw her song ‘Chukwuma’, which features Patoranking , become a street anthem, while rapper Base One‘s ‘Weyre re’, which got many grooving to its indigenous style.
Koker, who got signed to Choc City this year, also got his name registered on the list of hit makers with his song, ‘Do Something’, while Pepenazi‘s ‘Illegal’, featuring Olamide was a club anthem during the year under review.

The award ceremony comes up on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
