Embattled Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has picked up the gubernatorial nomination form of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state.
Tambuwal, who recently withdrew from running for the APC presidential ticket, on Friday, paid N5 million for the purchase of the nomination form, N500,000 for expression of interest form and N1million for administrative charges, making a total of N6.5 million, according to Vanguard.
“My purchase of the nomination form today has put to rest some recent speculations that I am going to contest for the governorship position in the state or not,” said Tambuwal, who was issued the forms by the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bala Hassan.
“I am aspiring to become the governor of the state to consolidate the achievements of our amiable leader, Gov. Aliyu Wamakko,” he said.
He described Wamakko as a committed and patriotic democrat, “who stood for the peace, unity and development of the state, the North and Nigeria in general.”
The Speaker said, if elected as a governor of the state in 2015, top on his agenda will be to work towards ensuring the even socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria in general.
“When elected as a governor in 2015 in sha Allahu, I will carry all the members of the party and the people of the state along while at Government House, Sokoto,” Tambuwal, promised.
