…Says Adebutu Most Competent to govern Ogun State in 2019
Omooba Sunday Solarin, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Ikenne Local Government and currently the Secretary General, Ladi Adebutu Campaign Organisation (LADO) speaks on the state of affairs in Ogun State PDP and why Ogun people should choose Hon (Dr) Ladi Adebutu in 2019.
-Adedeji Babington-Ashaye writes:
The Secretary General, Ladi Adebutu Campaign Organisation, Hon Sunday Solarin FCA, has denied the existence of any crisis in the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party saying there was nothing of such in its least form.
Hon Solarin stated this during an interactive breakfast live program “Citizens Forum” on Rock City FM 101.9, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday, 30th August, 2018.
He posited that the peddlers of such rumour have ceased to be members of the party having been expelled by the PDP National Executive Committee at its 80th meeting held in Abuja on July 23, 2018. He, therefore, queried the ground upon which they premised their claims.
Solarin allayed the fears of the people and loyal party members maintaining that Hon Sikirulai Ogundele led committee was the only authentic body saddled with the responsibility of running the party affairs in Ogun State. He adds that PDP under Ogundele is highly stable and very healthy.
He assured the good people of Ogun State of the readiness of Ogun State PDP to rescue and salvage the particles of the squandered legacies of the gateway state in 2019.
On Yewa agenda agitation, Solarin emphatically said that the zoning arrangement which had been the tradition since 1999 favoured Ijebu-Remo Division. He argued that the mutual political agreement on which division occupied Oke Mosan had always oscillated between two cultural divisions – Egba/Egbado Division and Ijebu/Remo Division.
Historically, in 1999, according to Solarin, power was zoned to Egba/Egbado which produced Chief Olusegun Osoba (Egba). In 2003, it was zoned to Ijebu/Remo Division which produced Otunba Gbenga Daniel (Remo). In 2011, Egba/Egbado Division produced Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Since his 8 year tenure is about to lapse, the political pendulum would naturally swing in the direction of Ijebu/Remo Division.
He, however, stated that, to the people of Ogun, what would matter to them was not the geographical location of the candidate but merit, character, integrity, competence and impact of such candidate in the society.
On Hon Oladipupo Adebutu’s gubernatorial aspiration, Solarin said Adebutu is the most competent person for the number one seat in Ogun State. He premised this on Adebutu’s passion for good governance and compassion for humanity. He described Hon Ladi as a man of good intent and purpose whose desire to change the character and complexion of governance in Ogun State is second to none.
On the account of his pedigree, Solarin posited that Adebutu, who is a successful businessman, is from a family where service to humanity is their heritage. “Hon Ladi’s passion for giving to the society is exemplary. For instance, he has donated over 200 transformers to several communities in Ogun State among other projects valuable to human existence,” Solarin stated
Moreover, according to Solarin, Hon Ladi has lived among the masses in Ogun State for over 35 years, as such, understands the pains, concerns and expectations of the people.
“He should be given the opportunity to manage public resources because he will definitely use it for the good of the people of Ogun State having lived for decades amongst them. He understands their expectations. He will create an enabling environment for prosperity to thrive again.”
“People are getting Improvished and it is because of policy errors of government. We need people who can put right policy in place and I can confirm to you that Hon Ladi Adebutu is one of such. He will put in place policies that will touch positively the life of the people. Any government that does not have human face is no more but a tyrannical government,” Solarin said.
A non-politician and public commentator, Mr Kayode Oliyide, who phoned in could not but agree with the submission of Solarin. He agreed that Hon Ladi remained the best person for Ogun State in 2019. He said “Sentiment apart, Adebutu still stands tall among the aspirants. In extent and content, he is very truthful and influential. He can be the next governor of Ogun State in 2019.”
