2027: Beware of Impostors, NNPP Warns Nigerians

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has warned Nigerians against individuals allegedly impersonating its officials and making unauthorised statements in the name of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party said the warning became necessary following what it described as a growing number of unauthorised comments, statements and activities being attributed to its leadership.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, the NNPP urged Nigerians, party members and the media to verify the identity and authority of individuals speaking on behalf of the party.

Johnson said only properly designated officials were authorised to issue statements or communicate the official position of the NNPP on political and electoral matters.

He warned that impostors could mislead the public, create confusion within the party and damage the credibility of its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party spokesperson also urged media organisations to confirm claims attributed to the NNPP before publishing them, particularly statements concerning its leadership, candidates, alliances and electoral strategy.

According to him, the party would continue to use its authorised communication channels to inform members and the public about its activities and decisions.

The NNPP further advised members to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of impersonation or unauthorised representation to the appropriate party authorities.

The warning comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with candidates, support groups and party structures already mobilising across the country.

The party said it remained committed to maintaining clear and credible communication with the public, stressing that only verified statements from authorised officials should be regarded as its official position.
