Paul Ibe, spokesperson for the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has hinted at a possible alliance between Atiku and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Ibe stated that both Atiku and Obi have learned valuable lessons from the 2023 elections and are determined to prevent a repeat of past mistakes.
Atiku and Obi collectively garnered over 12 million votes in the 2023 presidential election, which was won by the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu, with over eight million votes.

Obi, a former member of the PDP and longtime ally of Atiku, left the party for the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 polls after failing to secure the PDP presidential ticket.
Political analysts have speculated that a united effort by both opposition leaders in 2023 could have unseated the APC.
Reflecting on the lessons learned, Ibe said, “Nigerians deserve better than what they are getting. It’s never been this bad in this country, and there is no hope.
Atiku Abubakar has always advocated for opposition parties to unite because that is the only way to remove this incompetent and clueless government.”
Ibe revealed that discussions are ongoing among opposition figures, emphasizing that lessons from the last election would guide their strategies moving forward.
“They have learned that lesson and want to be united as they go forward. For Atiku, all options are on the table,” he added.
However, Ibe declined to comment on whether Atiku would step aside for Obi in the 2027 presidential election, stating that such details remain undecided.
The comments signal a growing possibility of collaboration between the PDP and LP as they strategize to present a formidable opposition to the APC ahead of the next elections.
