A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has predicted a difficult re-election battle for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Momodu made the assertion during an interview on Nevon Media with Oseni Rufai on Friday, expressing confidence that the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has a strong chance of winning the election.
According to him, Atiku would emerge victorious if he maintains a strong showing in the South while securing dominance in the North.

“As I predicted, Atiku will win the majority of the North, and if he is able to compete favourably in the South, it will be over for President Tinubu and Peter Obi.
“Atiku will secure at least 25 per cent of the votes in 26 states while also dominating the North, which is where the bulk of the votes are,” Momodu said.
The media entrepreneur further noted that the Nigerian Constitution requires a presidential candidate to secure the highest number of votes cast and at least 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of the states to be declared winner.
He expressed optimism that Atiku would meet the constitutional requirement, particularly by consolidating support across the northern region.
Momodu’s comments come as political parties and major contenders intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In the 2023 presidential election, President Bola Tinubu emerged victorious with about 37 per cent of the total votes cast, drawing significant support from the South-West and securing votes across other parts of the country.
