President Bola Tinubu has called on voters in Akwa Ibom State to deliver two million votes for him in the 2027 presidential election, urging young Nigerians to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to determine the country’s political future.
Tinubu made the appeal on Friday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Uyo, the state capital.

“Uyo, two million votes, this is an amazing turnout. We are not like other mushroom parties that don’t have the kind of character that we have,” he said.
Tinubu also criticised unnamed political opponents, accusing them of deceiving Nigerians and urging residents of the state to remain aligned with the APC.
He particularly addressed young people at the gathering, asking those who had collected their PVCs to indicate by raising their hands.
The President described the voter card as a weapon citizens could deploy against tyranny and politicians he accused of misleading them.
“That is your sword, that is the weapon you need to defeat tyranny, to defeat those deceiving you, to defeat those who didn’t appreciate the value of a growing economy and the value of a promising prosperity,” he stated.
Tinubu urged the youths to participate actively in the electoral process, stressing that their PVCs would enable them to determine who governs the country.
He also defended his record in public service, saying he had devoted many years to the struggle for democracy, freedom, development and progress.
“The weapon you have is the PVC. I don’t have to enumerate what I have done for you. I have committed my last years to struggling for democracy, freedom, development and progress,” he added.
The President further asked residents whether they had witnessed development under his administration and appealed to them to translate their support into votes in 2027.
The rally formed part of Tinubu’s political engagements as the APC intensifies preparations for the next general election.
His request for two million votes also placed Akwa Ibom at the centre of the party’s efforts to secure support across the South-South region.
