Over 500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State have defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection took place on Monday and was overseen by the PDP State Chairman, Sunday Bisi.
While receiving the defectors, Bisi attributed the growing exodus from the APC to the developmental strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

He noted that many more defections to the PDP are expected before the end of the year.
Bisi assured the crowd that the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for February 2025, would mark the end of the APC in Osun.
He urged continued support for Governor Adeleke, adding that his administration’s achievements in two years surpass those of the APC’s 12-year rule.
Addressing the new members, Bisi said, “In PDP, we don’t discriminate. Join hands with those you met to move the party forward.
By February 2025, PDP will coast to victory. We are fully prepared to ensure no rigging template works here.”
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Goke Folayan cited Governor Adeleke’s performance as the primary reason for their decision to join the PDP. “Nobody imagined the Governor would perform this well.
In just two years, projects like the abandoned Ora-Igbomina water scheme are being reconstructed. Meanwhile, the APC neglected Ifedayo for 12 years,” he said.
Folayan vowed to support the PDP’s chairmanship candidate, Kayode Atolagbe, and other councilorship candidates, predicting a total victory that would render the APC irrelevant in the local government.
The event’s highlight was the presentation of PDP flags to the party’s chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councilorship candidates.
