Carlo Ancelotti hailed Carlo Ancelotti hailed Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga champions returned to winning ways with a comfortable 4-0 win against Mainz.
Coming straight after a 2-0 loss in Hoffenheim last Saturday — their earliest defeat in a season since 2011 — Bayern recovered smartly in Munich and went second in the table.
Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben netted their first league goals of the season in the first half before top scorer Robert Lewandowski, on his 100th Bundesliga appearance for the club, added two second-half goals.
Ancelotti said: “We played well with good intensity and were able to kill the game off.
“The movement of our four attacking players was good, and they combined well.
“Of course, when we missed two or three chances when we were leading 1-0 the game could have become more complicated, but after we scored the second goal, we continued to play and press.
“We didn’t concede any opportunities apart from two or three situations where our passing was not so clean. After that, it was important for us to move well up front.”
