The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has demanded the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), Abdullahi Salau Modibo and his Commissioners to announce the polling results of the election held recently in Akwanga and Obi Local Government Areas.
Godiya Akwashiki, the majority leader, who moved the motion compelling the NASIEC Chairman and his team to appear before the house to clarify the results of Akwanga and Obi said that those results were not declared together with other local governments, despite the fact that Akwanga and Obi elections were counted and results announced at the collection centres.
In his response to the complain, Abdullahi Salau Modibo said that the Commission erred by declaring the results of Akwanga and Obi inconclusive after the returning officers of the two local governments had certified the winners as stipulated in section 26 of the Electoral Guidelines.
Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elisha Jatau Agwadu ruled that it was the unanimous decision of the Assembly that the Chairman and his Commissioners should go back to their offices and revert its earlier decision to ensure that the right thing was carried out.
