On the occasion of Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima’s 57th birthday, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau praised his colleague.
Vice President was born in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on September 2, 1966. In a statement released by Senator Barau’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the senator praised Shettima for his “indelible progressive marks” in both the private and public sectors, garnering the respect of all.
Before entering politics, he was a rising star among bankers. His efforts to strengthen democracy in his country have been monumental.

“Despite security concerns in Borno State, he elevated the bar in governance during his stint as governor, which lasted from 2011 to 2019. In addition, he noted that he had worked relentlessly as chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior (2019-2023) to overcome the difficulties faced by the agencies that fell under his purview.
