The Governor of Niger, Muhammad Umar Bago, has decreed a three-day vacation for the distribution of palliatives to the state’s 25 local government areas’ individual wards and divisions.
Next week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are the three days that have been declared.
This information was shared by the governor during a moderate press conference in Minna where he discussed the introduction of a new modality for the distribution of palliatives.

He explained that this is why government workers in Niger State will go on strike for three days.
As a member of the state government’s standing committees, he also ordered all political appointees, such as permanent secretaries and local government council chairmen, to return to their wards and units to distribute palliatives.
To discourage others from doing the same, Bago said that anyone caught stealing medicine intended for the public will go to jail.
He also said that the federal government had already sent N2 billion and five trucks of rice, and that another N2 billion and 40 bags of maize were on the way.
To help stabilise the situation, he says, “The sum of N3.2bn will be disbursed to the 25 LGs as palliatives next Monday, adding that N5.2bn will be injected into local markets next week to boast economic activities in the state.”
