The state legislature of Ogun has charged the police of working in collusion with land pirates.
The assembly has requested that Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, investigate reports of police allegedly working in collusion with suspected land grabbers in Ogun State to illegally arrest and detain innocent inhabitants of that state on fabricated charges.
When other legislators took turns citing widespread incidences of land-grabbing in their districts on Tuesday, Speaker Olakunle Oluomo made the appeal.

Members were participating in a debate on the second reading of the State Anti-land Grabbing (amendment) bill, which prompted the discussion.
The Speaker claims that hundreds of innocent people from the state of Ogun are currently being held in police cells in Alagbon, Lagos, and at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The Speaker explained that this was “due to the connivance of land grabbers with some security agents against innocent members of the public.”
Oluomo asked with IGP Egbetokun to get involved in the case to protect the rights of those wrongfully accused in Ogun.
Oluomo suggested litigating any disputes over land in court and promised that the state government will establish a special task force to deal with land issues under the new amendment.
Legislators said in their numerous reports that a comprehensive strategy was required to combat the land grabbing epidemic because it threatened state security, economic growth, and social stability.
