On Sunday, the Police Command in Benue stated that contrary to what has been falsely propagated on social media, there is not a single example of a stolen genital organ in Makurdi, which is the capital of the state.
SP Sewuese Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Command, stated to newsmen in Makurdi that the individual who allegedly had a genital organ taken from them was just making a false alarm.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a video had gone viral on the social media in which a pastor and a member of his church were said to have stolen the organ of a person who has not yet been recognized at New Layout in the Kanshio area of Makurdi. The incident allegedly took place on April 1.

According to NAN, the men who are accused of stealing organs were severely assaulted, and one of them can be seen naked in the footage that has gone viral.
Anene stated that ever since the allegations of stolen organs went viral in several places across the country, the majority of the supposed victims had constantly failed to establish that their genitals were genuinely missing. She stated that this was the case even though the allegations related to stolen organs had become widespread.
She claimed that victims typically gave false alarms, while members of the public who were unaware of the situation would attack those who were suspected of stealing without first conducting any kind of investigation.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) went on to say that she had conducted interviews with the two people who were accused of stealing at the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Makurdi, where she discovered that they were innocent. She added that their stories were pitiful.
“Someone will raise the alarm, and a group of teenagers who have no idea what’s going on will start torturing those who have done nothing wrong. This should not be allowed to continue since it is inhumane.
“A young man called the police to report the theft of a genital organ, according to them.
“The young people grabbed the person who was nearest to them and beat him until he confessed and named his pastor as the one who had sent him, with the expectation that the pastor would arrive and save him.
“The youngsters tracked out the same minister, and they also assaulted him. When the authorities found out about the situation, they came to their aid and rescued them.
“It’s really bad about this; there is no kernel of truth in any of this. “Since the beginning of these allegations, it has never been proven, and people who complain are typically told that there is nothing wrong with them,” she stated.
Anene stated that continued attempts were being made to apprehend individuals responsible for the conduct. (NAN)
