In a significant political development, former Niger State Deputy Governor and ex-Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, along with two prominent figures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have officially abandoned the party, making a high-profile move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Joining Ibeto in this political shift are Ibrahim Egbo, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Lapai Agaie federal constituency, and Alhaji Abubakar Azozo, former Niger State Commissioner of Water Resources.
Ahmed Musa Ibeto, accompanied by the other defectors, made the announcement at the state APC secretariat in Minna. They attributed their decision to the purposeful leadership style of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.

Expressing his allegiance to the APC, Ibeto stated, “APC is my home, and I have returned home. There are many other people, including their followers from other political parties, that are on their way to APC.”
Responding to speculation about the motivation behind his decision, Ibeto clarified, “My decision was based on my personal conviction because all the problems that forced me out of APC before are no longer there in the current administration of Mohammed Umar Bago.”
In a related development, Alh Aminu Musa Bobi, the state chairman of APC, revealed that the party has initiated the compilation of a comprehensive database for all political appointees in the state. This move aims to ensure accountability and accessibility of political appointees to the grassroots level. The political landscape in Niger State is witnessing dynamic shifts as key players realign themselves in the run-up to future elections.
