Barcelona legend, Luis Suarez has come out to say that he almost joined Real Madrid as a replacement for Karim Benzema. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, Real Madrid wanted his signature before the 2014 World Cup as they were considering selling Benzema to Arsenal, but he decided to move to Barcelona instead.
Suarez added that despite the bite incident with Evra, Luis Enrique and Barcelona pushed for his signature regardless.
His words, “Before the 2014 World Cup, Real Madrid wanted me as they wanted to sell Benzema to Arsenal. Barcelona at the time was [also] interested and Luis Enrique was pressing.
“The bite case happened and Barcelona continued to want to sign me despite the punishment. I will always be grateful for that.”
