The Edo State Police Command has arrested a police constable, Prince Chima, attached to the Department of Operatives (DOP), for allegedly threatening residents with an AK-47 rifle at their residence.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Funsho Adegboye, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, stating that an orderly room trial has been ordered for the constable.
According to Adegboye, the arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on April 7, 2024, showing a young man in a blue T-shirt, black joggers trousers, and blue palm slippers threatening violence with an AK-47 rifle.

He explained that upon investigation, the police constable, with Force Number 534023 PC, was identified as the person in the video.
The constable, enlisted on January 10, 2020, and trained at the Police Training School Ogida, Benin City, started his policing career in Edo State Police Command and was attached to the National Deputy Chairman South South of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Dan Orbih, via the Department of Operations.
Chima claimed that an altercation with a man at a petrol station led to the incident.
After the man allegedly insulted him, Chima followed him home and threatened him with the rifle.
Adegboye commended the residents for their patience and handling of the situation, promising that the constable would face the consequences of his actions.
