Malam Hisham Habib, the pioneer Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, has challenged the assertions made by the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonum, regarding Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya group’s alleged betrayal.
Hisham contended that the entry of Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader and Presidential Candidate of the Party in 2023, significantly elevated the party’s status more than any other event in its history.
As a member and witness to the party’s activities before and after Kwankwaso joined with his supporters, Hisham stated that the statements attributed to the party’s founder lacked decorum and gratitude.

He noted that prior to Kwankwaso’s entry, the party was at its weakest point, with leadership struggling to revive its structures, especially at the state level. He emphasized that Aniebonam and his loyalists should appreciate Kwankwaso’s decision to join a party that was unable to sponsor delegates to a convention, let alone win elections.
Hisham highlighted the significant impact of Kwankwaso’s entry, citing the party’s victory in the governorship election with the highest number of votes in the country as a milestone.
He also noted the unprecedented presence of the party in the national assembly.
He urged the Chairman of the Board of Trustees to exhibit the maturity expected of a statesman and ignore the actions of saboteurs.
He praised Kwankwaso for his consistent leadership and respect for those who supported him, which has earned him global and national recognition.
Hisham emphasized that Nigerians from various backgrounds joined the party because of Kwankwaso, and the majority of members nationwide see him as the leader based on his political track record.
