The Abia State government and the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have announced a collaborative effort to combat fake drugs, substandard foods, and other unwholesome products in Nigeria.
Governor Alex Otti revealed the partnership during a meeting at the government house in Umuahia with the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, and her team, who were in the state for an official assignment.
Expressing concern over the loss of lives due to fake drugs and substandard products, Governor Otti assured that his administration would spare no effort in eradicating counterfeit products.

He disclosed the establishment of a task force dedicated to this cause.
The Governor also highlighted his administration’s commitment to harnessing the energy of youth for positive ventures.
In her address, Prof Adeyeye emphasized NAFDAC’s relentless fight against fake drugs, substandard foods, and other harmful products. She advocated for a well-regulated Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) industry and coordinated wholesale centers to monitor the marketing of drugs and related products.
