Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 11, 2023, Imo State gubernatorial election, has vowed to appeal the election petition tribunal’s verdict that affirmed Governor Hope Uzodinma’s victory.
In a press statement signed by his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha, Anyanwu described the tribunal’s ruling as a “misplaced judgement” that overlooked significant petitions regarding election irregularities, falsification of results, and disqualification.
“The ruling of the tribunal was another clear case of misplaced judgement, which violates the substance of the petitions challenging monumental election irregularities, falsification of results, and disqualification,” the statement read.

Anyanwu highlighted the discontent among Imo State residents, stating, “Today, there is a charged atmosphere in Imo State.
The faces of Imo people are looking moody and unhappy. This shows that their efforts to enthrone good governance by voting for me as their preferred candidate have been hijacked.”
He affirmed his commitment to contesting the tribunal’s decision through all constitutional means: “We can’t accept this judgement. We shall utilise all constitutional means to regain our mandate.
In a few days, my legal team will be done with the review of the verdict. Thereafter, we shall do the needful.”
The statement also reassured his supporters, emphasizing that Anyanwu believes his case has substantial merit and pledging to pursue the matter to its final stage.
“We are going to reclaim our stolen mandate,” he concluded.
