President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian Army to ensure that violent groups do not overpower peaceful and law-abiding Nigerians, emphasizing the need for citizens to feel safe in their homes and public spaces.
Tinubu made these remarks on Saturday during the grand finale of the Nigerian Army Celebration held at the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in Rukuba, Bassa LGA of Plateau State.
Represented by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, President Tinubu commended the Nigerian Army for its patriotism and selflessness in securing the nation.

Tinubu acknowledged the increasing security challenges faced over the past decade and a half and praised the Army for rising to these challenges to maintain peace in Nigeria.
“As your Commander-In-Chief, my administration is committed to building a well-equipped and truly professional army that will remain the pride of the nation,” President Tinubu affirmed.
President Bola Ahmed highlighted recent approvals for Group Life Assurance for fallen soldiers and the procurement of attack helicopters and other essential equipment to enhance operational effectiveness.
In addressing the evolving security threats, President Tinubu emphasized the Army’s pivotal role in ensuring safety across fields, highways, markets, and homes nationwide.
He urged the Army to sustain its progress and develop strategies to prevent violent groups from disrupting the peace enjoyed by law-abiding citizens.
The President also encouraged collaboration among security agencies and urged the Army to uphold professionalism and justice in their operations.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the Army’s ability to protect and serve the nation with honor.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, reiterated the Army’s commitment to tackling security challenges decisively in alignment with the President’s directives.
He affirmed the Army’s dedication to professionalism and pledged to uphold their responsibilities with integrity and diligence.
The Nigerian Army, with 161 years of history, continues to play a crucial role in safeguarding national security and upholding peace and stability across the country.
