The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has outlined the condition for restoring peace in Rivers State, placing the responsibility on Governor Sim Fubara.
Wike and Fubara have been at odds since the governor assumed office in 2023, despite attempts by President Bola Tinubu to mediate.
The disagreement between the two political figures has persisted.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wike emphasized that peace could only be achieved if Governor Fubara adheres to the rule of law, stating that no one is actively opposing him.
“Obeying the rule of law is the only thing that can bring peace, and it’s up to Fubara,” Wike said. “Who is fighting him? Have you forgotten that from 2015 to 2023 I had my disagreements with the Federal Government? No one is fighting you, the Federal Government is not fighting you.”
Wike reiterated that respecting court judgments and upholding the rule of law are key to resolving the conflict. “There will be peace when Fubara obeys the rule of law.
There is peace when you obey court judgments, and Wike too will obey court judgments and allow the rule of law to prevail.”
He warned that failure to comply with the law would lead to disorder. “If you don’t obey court judgments and the rule of law, you are inviting anarchy. Subject yourself to the rule of law and not the rule of power,” Wike concluded.
