The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has chosen to remain silent on the internal crisis affecting the party in Kano State.
Speaking on Tuesday at his Miller Road residence in Kano, Kwankwaso told reporters that he had no intention of commenting on the situation.
“I don’t want to talk, please. Don’t drag me into what I am not supposed to be dragged into.

The chairman of the party has spoken and has been speaking. Reach out to him,” Kwankwaso said.
The NNPP has recently been rocked by internal disputes, including the suspension of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and the Commissioner of Transportation, Muhammad Diggol.
Party Chairman Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa announced that the suspension was due to alleged disrespect towards the party, abuse of office, and disloyalty.
The suspension came just an hour after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf led a reconciliation effort between Bichi and aggrieved members of his constituency.
Meanwhile, Bichi has publicly distanced himself from an ongoing campaign encouraging a separation between Governor Yusuf and Kwankwaso, known as “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka,” meaning “Abba, stand on your feet.”
The crisis within the NNPP has raised concerns about party cohesion as it navigates internal challenges ahead of future political engagements.
