The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has referred to Abia State Governor Alex Otti as a “prodigal son,” expressing confidence that he will return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Abia International Airport in Nsulu, Keyamo remarked on Otti’s political journey, recalling his move from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC in 2020, and later to the Labour Party, under which he won the 2023 governorship election.
“Today is not the day for politics,” Keyamo said. “He strayed away, he was with us, he strayed away like the prodigal son.”

Keyamo also highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s support for the airport project, attributing it to the President’s admiration for Otti.
“The President’s motivation was also the fact that he loves the governor of this state, he loves his spirit,” he stated.
The airport project has faced resistance, with Nsulu natives in Isiala Ngwa North staging a protest on December 1 against the government’s use of communal land for the development.
