The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from the reported commissioning of a new party secretariat in Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by the PDP Zonal Chairman for Zone A, Hon. Abraham Waroh, the party described the event as illegal and clarified that it had no involvement in the purported office inauguration.
“It has come to our attention that Mr. Dan Boor has claimed to be the Chairman of the PDP in Ushongo Local Government, a position officially held by Hon. Gaav Tsua,” the statement read.

The party emphasized that Hon. Gaav Tsua is the recognized chairman, as acknowledged by the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies.
According to the statement, the only legitimate event conducted by the party was the inauguration of ward executives from the eleven council wards of Ushongo LGA, elected during the ward congresses on July 27, 2024.
It further clarified that local government executives, elected on September 21, 2024, were not inaugurated alongside local government chairmen at the PDP State Congress held on October 3, 2024, at Sese Event Centre in Makurdi.
“This inauguration was conducted under the supervision of INEC and security agencies,” the party reiterated.
The PDP disclosed that its legal representatives have been instructed to report Mr. Boor to the appropriate security agencies for allegedly impersonating the Ushongo LGA PDP Chairman and misleading the public.
Additionally, the party noted that former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, was represented by Hon. Alfred Orya Atera at the disputed event.
The PDP urged Senator Suswam, as a respected party leader, to refrain from actions that could undermine the party’s integrity.
The party concluded by calling on the public to disregard any misleading reports regarding the commissioning of a PDP office in Lessel, warning that anyone engaging with Mr. Boor does so at their own risk.
