The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed claims that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai is a registered member of the party.
El-Rufai, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently announced his exit from the ruling party, citing a divergence in political direction.
Addressing journalists on Friday, SDP’s Assistant National Secretary for the Northwest Zone, Idris Inuwa, clarified that El-Rufai has not undergone the required registration process to become a member of the party.

According to Inuwa, neither the Kaduna North Local Government Chapter nor the leadership of Unguwar Sarki ward has any record of El-Rufai’s membership.
He advised the former governor to follow the due process if he wishes to officially join the party.
Furthermore, Inuwa rejected reports of the dissolution of the Kaduna SDP State Working Committee, describing it as unconstitutional and a breach of due process.
He emphasized that the committee was elected through a valid State Congress and has a four-year mandate.
The Kaduna SDP leadership reaffirmed its openness to new members but maintained that proper registration procedures must be followed.
