No fewer than 14 persons lost their lives in various road accidents across Edo State in the month of March 2025, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has revealed.
The State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Cyril Mathew, disclosed this during an interview with journalists on Monday in Benin City.
According to Mathew, the fatalities occurred in 17 reported crashes across the state within the review period.

He added that 34 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries, while a total of 94 persons were involved in the accidents.
He attributed the crashes to factors such as brake failure, over-speeding, dangerous driving, use of mobile phones while driving, and violation of road rules.
The Sector Commander cautioned motorists against reckless behaviors on the road, including over-speeding, drunk driving, night travel, and phone use while behind the wheel.
“We have carried out several sensitization campaigns and continue to educate motorists and other road users on the importance of imbibing a safety culture to prevent loss of lives,” he said.
