Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have reportedly neutralized a notorious bandit leader, Ibrahim Kaboni, and eight of his fighters during a successful ambush operation near Keta village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The development was disclosed on Thursday by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via a post on his X handle.
According to Makama, the ambush was executed by troops of 1 Brigade in collaboration with other security agencies on the evening of Tuesday, April 16, 2025.

The operation followed sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance on the movement of the armed group.
Makama quoted security sources as saying that the ambush resulted in a heavy exchange of gunfire.
The troops reportedly pursued the fleeing bandits, killing Kaboni and eight of his fighters, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
“Ibrahim Kaboni has been on the security watchlist for his alleged role in several deadly attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling incidents across Tsafe and neighbouring areas,” Makama stated.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle bandit networks and restore peace in the troubled region.
