An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun State has sentenced a man, Saheed Babatunde, to eight years imprisonment after finding him guilty of theft and issuing threats to life.
Babatunde was apprehended by operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps over his involvement in a series of criminal activities, including stealing household items and threatening to kill a resident.
The prosecution, led by Counsel Oyedele Akintayo representing the Attorney General of Osun State, arraigned the convict on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and threat to life.

According to the charge sheet, the offences contravened Section 390(9) and Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
In his ruling, Magistrate Olatunji M.A. detailed the charges as follows:
Count One: That the defendant, Saheed Babatunde, along with others at large, on or about April 16, 2025, at Isale Osun in Osogbo Magisterial District, stole iron sheets, cooking pots, and other household items valued at ₦500,000, belonging to one Ogundapo Azeez.
Count Two: That on the same date and at the same location, Babatunde and others at large unlawfully threatened to kill Ogundapo Azeez.
The court, after evaluating the evidence presented, found Babatunde guilty on both counts and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
