The Chairman of the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), Martin Luther Agwai (General Rtd) has said that SURE-P is to partner with the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) on road maintenance and training in the country.
Martin Luther Agwai, who expressed delight for the performance of the FRSC, added that the partnership will be a win-win situation as the collaboration would bring positive impact to Nigerians through proper road management.
“The collaboration, he averred would put in place effective traffic management which is intended to enhance passengers’ safety and goods through auditioning and effective coverage of roads after construction. The Corp Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, Osita Chidoka said that FRSC has over 600 driving schools in Nigeria with a programme that can train drivers under the SURE-P Vocational Training Programme.
He disclosed that the highest death from trucks comes from Nigeria and for this reason, forty number of FRSC staff have been trained in France as instructors, drivers and trainers under assistance from ‘Total Oil.’ The Corp Marshal noted that FRSC is the best internal agency for the gathering of data. Adding, FRSC has 25 roadside clinics, 24 ambulances, 400 nurses and 30 doctors which can enhance the activities of the SURE-P Maternal Child Health (MCH) programe under the partnership.
“We have the biggest Wifi Network and intelligence software in Nigeria at the cost $12 billion and the partnership with SURE-P would add value to what we do,” he stated. Chidoka invited the SURE-P management staff to come for the new driver’s license and also promised to make them a special marshal.
