A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Mallam Suleiman Salisu, has expressed deep concern over the recent criticisms of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Speaking with Pressmen in Kaduna, Salisu described El-Rufai’s comments as hypocritical, accusing the former governor of contributing to the state’s divisions and insecurity during his eight-year tenure, only to now turn around and condemn the resulting consequences.
According to him, El-Rufai’s administration neglected critical infrastructure development in the southern part of Kaduna metropolis, an area predominantly populated by Christians.

“Does it mean Nigerians have forgotten so soon what the immediate past governor did during his time in office? Go to the other part of Kaduna metropolis—the southern part dominated by Christians. El-Rufai completely ignored the area in terms of infrastructure, road construction, and social amenities, as if they were not part of the city,” Salisu said.
He also pointed to the alarming rise in insecurity during El-Rufai’s time, particularly the prevalence of kidnapping and violent attacks across the state.
“Remember how unsafe it was to travel from Kaduna to Birnin Gwari, Kafanchan, or even Abuja. How many Nigerians were kidnapped or killed? What about the countless lives lost in Zangon Kataf Local Government, especially in Atyap Chiefdom? The former governor did nothing substantial to address these crises,” he lamented.
Salisu criticized El-Rufai for now presenting himself as a political savior, warning Nigerians not to be deceived by such figures.
“Today, the former governor parades himself as a saint, speaking against the present administration as though he didn’t plant the seeds of discord we are battling. Nigerians must ask: what solution does El-Rufai truly have to offer?”
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and seek out credible leaders capable of lifting the country from its present challenges rather than recycling politicians with questionable records.
“The hardships we are facing should remind Nigerians to search sincerely for competent and selfless leaders who will deliver the nation from this quagmire, not politicians driven by self-interest,” he added.
