Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured that the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State will be resolved through the intervention of the National Assembly.
Speaking on Thursday during the commissioning of the Kugbo Taxi and Bus Terminal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Akpabio said the National Assembly is committed to restoring peace and political stability in the state.
He added that efforts are underway to tackle the root causes of the conflict and promote reconciliation among stakeholders.

“We are determined to ensure that normalcy returns to Rivers State. The National Assembly will work closely with all parties involved to ensure lasting peace and progress for the people,” Akpabio stated.
The crisis led to the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and the state legislature three months ago. President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara for six months while declaring a state of emergency in the state.
Since then, Fubara has met with President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, his estranged political godfather, as part of reconciliation efforts. Wike recently urged Fubara to engage other aggrieved stakeholders to achieve a lasting resolution.
