The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has issued a stern directive to its members reportedly listed as coordinators of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging them to either denounce the reports or resign their positions within 48 hours.
In a statement released on Thursday, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Mr Mike Ojisi, said the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) was alarmed by a recent publication which identified some SWC members and Chapter Chairmen as serving coordinators for the ADC in the state.
Ojisi clarified that while the party recognises the constitutional right of individuals to freedom of association, dual membership of political parties remains unacceptable within the PDP.

“The State Working Committee has noted a publication naming some SWC members and Chapter Chairmen as ADC coordinators in Cross River State,” the statement read.
“The SWC, therefore, urges those named to be honourable and either publicly denounce the publication or resign their PDP positions within 48 hours. Otherwise, the party will apply the relevant disciplinary provisions of its constitution against them.”
He added that the PDP was not in any coalition or alliance, referencing the party’s 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held recently in Abuja, where a firm position was taken to maintain the PDP’s independence from any coalition arrangements.
Ojisi cautioned all Executive Committee members and other officeholders to remain loyal to the party and steer clear of any conduct that could be interpreted as anti-party activity or defection.
He reiterated that the PDP remains committed to its internal democratic values and expects all members to abide by the party’s constitution, warning that disciplinary actions would be taken against those found undermining the party’s unity and credibility.
