The Yobe State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports suggesting mass defection of its members to an opposition coalition, describing the claims as false and a deliberate ploy to create confusion within its ranks.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the state PDP chairman, Umar El-Gash, reaffirmed that the party remains united and fully prepared for the 2027 general elections.
“The PDP in Yobe State is stronger today than it has been in recent times. The insinuation that our members are aligning with any coalition is false, unfounded, and a desperate attempt by political adversaries to create confusion and disunity in our ranks,” El-Gash stated.

He assured members and supporters that the party’s structure remains intact and operational across all levels—from the wards to the state.
The chairman also addressed concerns raised by loyal supporters in light of recent political developments. He noted that the departure of certain individuals who previously worked against the collective interest of the party had paved the way for greater internal cohesion.
“We are proud to state that the PDP in Yobe is stronger today than it has been in recent times. Following the exit of certain individuals whose actions consistently undermined the collective progress of the party, the atmosphere within the party has greatly improved,” he said.
El-Gash urged members to disregard the defection rumours and remain focused on strengthening the party ahead of future political contests, especially the 2027 elections.
