The All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading in the ongoing local government elections across Lagos State, as vote sorting and collation continue in the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
Although the exercise was largely peaceful, voter turnout remained low in many polling units across the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who cast his vote at polling unit 006, St. Stevens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji-Adele, Lagos Island, acknowledged logistical delays in some areas but attributed them to early movement restrictions.

“There were initial delays in the deployment of materials due to movement constraints, but overall, the process has remained orderly,” Sanwo-Olu told reporters shortly after voting.
As of 4:00 p.m., unofficial reports from several polling units indicated that the APC was firmly in the lead in numerous locations, including Yaba, Somolu, Bariga, Ikeja, and Agege, in both the chairmanship and councillorship contests.
At Sanwo-Olu’s own polling unit, the ruling party secured a comfortable margin, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed in second place and the Labour Party (LP) maintained a distant third.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is expected to officially announce the full results once collation is completed across the state.
Fifteen out of the 28 registered political parties are participating in the election, with the APC being the most widely represented across the 57 councils and 376 wards.
